Our Team

Dr. Peter Van Hoven was raised in Middle TN. After graduating from Southern College of Optometry in 1999, he entered private practice in Brentwood, TN. His 20 years of experience as a partner in a multi-location private practice setting helped him understand the nuances and challenges of being a small business owner. During his time in practice, Dr. Van Hoven has participated in and conducted over 40 clinical research trials. He is a longtime member and advocate for the AOA and Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians. In his 17 year stint as a Vision Source administrator, Dr. Van Hoven was given the opportunity to help other private practitioners increase in-office efficiencies, develop leadership skills, and grow their businesses.

Dr. Van Hoven has a passion for the outdoors and is a champion of the National Park System. In fact, he often jokes with patients that he should have pursued becoming a park ranger instead of being an optometrist. Dr. Van Hoven is married to his amazing wife Kelly and treasures his role as a father to two college age daughters. He is very excited to join the GRT Team and looks forward to assisting in creating a great experience for all involved.

Dr. Paul graduated from SCO in 2001 and worked in a MD/OD referral center before entering private practice with his father and original partner. Dr. Paul taught students at the Southern College of Optometry in a part-time role from 2004-2008 and continues to be an adjunct faculty member at SCO. Dr. Paul serves as the Managing Partner and CEO (Chief Experience Officer) for his group of four offices in the Memphis metro area. He has served in many roles within the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians including President and Chairman of the Board. He is a strong advocate for keeping Optometry independent and assisting in practice development and transition which is the backbone of the GRT Summit. Dr. Paul is married to Kelli and has three daughters, all which share his love for life and the great outdoors.

Holding a Master of Business Administration from Loyola University of New Orleans with a focus in Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Erich is President & Chief Vision Officer of Akrinos where he leads a simple, clear mission: to make the business of eyecare approachable, accessible and profitable. In so doing, he consults with optometrists & private practices across North America, provides strategic advisory to start-ups across eyecare and empowers modern ECPs as a writer, and CE & Keynote speaker. An eyecare industry veteran, Erich is a partner of the American Optometric Association & the AOA Center for Independent Practice, and is a member of the American Academy of Optometry Foundation's President's Circle. Erich is married to his wife Megan and has two children. With a lifelong passion for health & fitness, and the great outdoors Erich enjoys cycling & hiking, and road trips with his family to America's National Parks.

After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana State University, Chris Wroten, O.D., graduated from Southern College of Optometry (SCO) before completing a Residency in Hospital-based Primary Eye Care at the Memphis Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Wroten is a partner at the Bond-Wroten Eye Clinics, with 3 offices in southeast Louisiana, and serves as the clinic’s Chief Operating Officer, while supervising its Primary Care & Ocular Disease Residency and Student Externship Programs, both of which he founded. He has received appointment as Adjunct Faculty at several schools & colleges of optometry, has twice been elected President of the Optometry Association of Louisiana (OAL), co-chairs the OAL Education Committee, is Vice-Chair of SECO International’s Education Committee, serves on the Louisiana State Board of Optometry Examiners, has been appointed to numerous committees within the American Optometric Association, and serves on the Board of Trustees for SCO. Dr. Wroten has lectured internationally, participated in clinical research, and been the recipient of several professional awards throughout his career. He is a devoted husband to his wife, Dr. Sarah Wroten, also a staff optometrist at The Bond-Wroten Eye Clinics, and is the proud father of two children, Emily and Ben.
